لا يزال السيد محي الدين شيخ آلي سكرتير حزب الوحدة الديمقراطي الكردي في سوريا مختفياً منذ تأريخ 20 ديسمبر 2006
حيث أقدمت جهة أمنية باعتقاله في مدينة حلب.
هناك بواعث قلق من خطر تعرضه للتعذيب وغيره من ضروب المعاملة او العقوبة القاسية او اللانسانية او المهينة ـ ذلك الخطر الذي يواجهه السيد محي الدين شيخ آلي بالرغم من انضمام سورية الى اتفاقية مناهضة التعذيب في العام 2004.

في الخامس والعشرين من ديسمبر توجهت زوجة السيد محي الدين شيخ آلي الى فرع الامن العسكري في مدينة حلب للاستفسار عن مصيره فانكرت السلطات وجوده وطٌُلب من زوجته أن تبحث عنه في مكان آخر ولكنهم رفضوا التطرق اين بامكانها البحث عنه.
لا يُعلم بعد اذا كان قد تم توجيه اي تهمة ضد السيد محي الدين شيخ آلي ولكن يُعتقد بان اعتقاله يدخل ضمن حملة الاعتقالات الاخيرة.
التحرك الموصى به هو إرسال مناشدات بحيث تصل بأسرع وقت ممكن للإعراب عن القلق ازاء ما يقاسيه السيد محي الدين شيخ آلي… ولذلك تطالبون السلطات اما بتوجيه تهمة له ومحاكمته محاكمة عادلة وفقا للمعايير الدولية، بما في ذلك الحق في المثول امام محكمة “مستقلة ومحايدة” وفقا للعهد الدولي للحقوق المدنية والسياسية، والتي سوريا دولة طرف فيه، او الافراج عنه.
ترسل المناشدات إلى فخامة الرئيس بشار الأسد رئيس الجمهورية العربية السورية، وكذلك الى معالي وزير الخارجية ومعالي وزير العدل.

Mohye Aldin Sheikh Alii was arrested on 20 December 2006 in Aleppo city.
I would like to express my concerns at this recent arrest.
I would like to express my concerns at this recent arrest.
I wish to seek assurances that Mohye Aldin Sheikh Alii will be well-treated, and not tortured or ill-treated, while in custody.
Furthermore, I wish you to remind the authorities that Mohye Aldin Sheikh Alii has the right to immediate and unrestricted access to his family, a lawyer, and any medical treatment he may need.
He must get a fair hearing in accordance with international standards for fair trial, including the right to a hearing by an “independent and impartial tribunal” in accordance with the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights, to which Syria is a state party, or to be released.
Finally, I would like to call on the authorities to implement measures laid out in the UN Declaration on the Right and Responsibility of Individuals, Groups and Organs of Society to Promote and Protect Universally Recognized Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, which allow for “the right, individually and in association with others, to promote and to strive for the protection and realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms at the national and international levels”.
